Tasty Traditions

The Bluffton Street Fair will soon be here with activities Tues.-Sat., Sept. 17 – 21. Everyone has their favorite thing at the fair such as parades, rides, games and of course, food. Two local food booths at the fair with the longest tradition include Mettler’s Fish Stand and the 4-H Pancake and Sausage Booth. The first fish stand started in 1932 by Lynn Stevens. His daughter (Ruth Mettler) would take over the stand in 1939 and it was expanded in 1945 by her son Robert Mettler and officially named Mettler’s Fish Stand.

The Wells County 4-H Association started their booth in 1949 to help fund their newly purchased land which became the 4-H Park. Before this time, 4-H exhibited their projects at the Street Fair and the youth got out of school to show their animals.

Today, 4-H still serves up Buttermilk Pancakes and Whole Hog Sausage all day long starting at 7:00am. Be sure to check these and all of your favorite things at the fair this year. https://www.facebook.com/blufftonstreetfair/
