Touring Downtown Bluffton

Thank you to everyone who participated in the recent guided Walking Tours of Downtown Bluffton. Thanks also to tour guide Jim Sturgeon for all of the facts and history and Emily Marshall, Community Relations Manager at the Wells County Public Library for coordinating details, registration and the photos seen here. The tours proved to be very popular and we are sorry that not everyone could participate who wanted to attend. There may be another tour date later this summer if details can be worked out. We will keep you informed.

Meeting up at the Wells County Courthouse Plaza. The Courthouse was built in 1889 by Architect George W.Bunting. It is a Richardsonian Romanesque style built with sandstone. Richardsonian Romanesque is a style of Romanesque Revival architecture named after the American architect Henry Hobson Richardson (1838–1886).

The buildings have had many uses through the years.

Special thank to our tour guide Jim Sturgeon. It was very interesting to learn about the downtown.
