The Wells County Historical Society and Museum hosted a program on the History of the 4-H Park Log Cabin in late October.

Presenters Pat Wall and Roger Sherer shared photos and explained the original 1855 cabin built on the John Bennett family farm, the move to the Wells County 4-H Park in the 1960’s by the Jaycees and restoration as we know it today.

Moved to the 4-H Park and rebuilt as as one story cabin by the Bluffton Jaycees.

The time had come for another rebuild.

The cabin was disassembled and the logs were marked. Those that were still good were used in some way with the rebuild.

Final stages and adding the chinking. Thank you to the volunteers who helped and a big thank you to Studebaker Specialty Woodworks who were in charge of the project.

The finished cabin is now used for various educational programs and it can be rented by groups or families.

It is a popular setting for family and special photographs.

It is also in full use during the 4-H Fair with the Log Cabin Programs each evening. Pictured here is Daniel Boone, portrayed by Danny Russell. https://storytellingarts.org/danny-russel/ Thank you for the interesting presentation.
